Shark Scale: Beyblade X's most-used attack blade

By Alberto ·

Shark Scale is not the strongest blade in the roster: it is the one that shows up most often in a list of winners.

4,193 aggregated tournament placements, 1,497 wins, 268 distinct combos it is mounted on. No other blade in competitive play comes close to these numbers, not even Wizard Rod, second with 3,188 placements. Attack 70, defense 15, stamina 15: the stats describe a blade skewed as far as possible toward offense, and the volume of use says that skew works in tournaments, not just in theory.

Released in the UX-15 set (“SharkScale Deck Set”) and reissued in a booster (G2731), Shark Scale has no subtle identity: it is designed to hit first and harder than almost anything in front of it. The flip side is defense and stamina, both at 15, a minimal cushion that makes every build constructed around it a bet on the speed of the match rather than on its length.

The two builds that matter: 1-70 and 3-60 Low Rush

Most of the results come from two specific combinations.

Shark Scale 1-70 Low Rush is combo number 2 of the entire all-time WBO ranking: score 8.93, 1400 WBO points, 276 wins according to that ranking, 624 tournament events, 286 wins, 810 top cut appearances, 3.2% meta share. It is not an isolated exploit: it was used by the silver medalist (Balya) at the 2025 World Championship, and on September 19, 2026 it took 1st and 2nd place at the event “Dallas Beyblade Association - The Beycon Blitz - Standard#180” (17 players). Consistent results over a long window, not a peak.

Shark Scale 3-60 Low Rush is combo number 4 all-time (score 8.24, 699 points, 187 wins), and it is the one that won: gold medalist (Leobardo) at the 2025 World Championship. Two different ratchets, two players on the world podium, the same blade under both.

Both builds are clearly growing in August 2026: the 1-70 goes from 20 to 32 placements, the 3-60 from 15 to 27. This is not statistical noise on small numbers: it is a trend moving in the same direction on two distinct combos of the same blade, in the same month.

The 1-60 ratchet is leaving the meta

There is a detail that the “Shark Scale is everywhere” aggregate hides: not all of its builds are growing. Shark Scale 1-60 Low Rush, the older variant, dropped from 12 to 8 placements in the same August in which 1-70 and 3-60 were rising. The meta is shifting within the same blade, toward ratchets that give more reach (1-70) or more initial speed (3-60), at the expense of the 1-60. It is worth knowing before copying an old build found online: today’s reference configuration is not the one from six months ago.

What stops it, and with what logic

Against a blade that lives off its first burst of power, there are two structurally different answers, not variations of the same idea.

Wizard Rod, mounted in the 1-60 Hexa build (score 9.62, combo number 1 of the entire all-time WBO ranking), does not try to compete on attack: it is a stamina blade that refuses direct clashes. Against a pure attacker like Shark Scale, the strategy is to let the opponent’s energy run out before your own, withstanding the pressure instead of taking it head-on.

Hover Wyvern, in the 9-60 Kick build (score 8.55), plays the opposite register: it is a defense blade that absorbs the attack instead of avoiding it. Where Wizard Rod flees the battle, Hover Wyvern takes it on and neutralizes it on impact.

Two styles of answer, one shared problem: Shark Scale attacks at 70 with almost no reserve behind it. Whoever faces it has to choose whether to wear it down or absorb it: surviving a direct clash with 15 defense is almost never the option that holds up.

Tournament record

3,866 tournament placements across 274 distinct combos, 1,417 of them wins.
