How Scores Are Calculated
Every combo gets a Competitive Authority Score from 0 to 10, built mostly from tournament results: how it places (wins and finals carry more weight), how big the event was, and how widely it shows up across independent events — not just how often it is mentioned.
Scoring Method
The score combines three pillars, each weighted by how reliable the source is (tournament databases count far more than opinions):
- Tournament performance: placement-weighted (1st > 2nd > 3rd), scaled by event size and faded over time
- Meta presence: usage share and the number of independent events a combo appears in
- Corroboration: how many distinct trusted sources back it, across languages
- Opinion-only mentions (YouTube, Reddit, theory tier-lists) count, but cannot stand in for tournament proof
Each pillar has diminishing returns, so a combo proven across many events ranks above one that fluked a single small win. The meta shifts fast, so recent results weigh more (75-day half-life).
What Affects the Score
- Placement in tournaments (1st/2nd/3rd) and how often
- Event size — a major win beats a small local
- Recency — results fade with a 75-day half-life
- Independent events and players running the combo
- Reliability of each source (tournament DB vs opinion)
